What is it?
Sexually transmitted infection (STI) test is a simple, accurate way for an individual to find out whether they have contracted an infection.
The comprehensive product range includes STI testing for males and females, and tests for some of the most common pathogens including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, herpes, syphilis, and HIV.
When is an STI test useful?
An individual might want an STI test if:
- They are experiencing symptoms that mean they could have an STI
- They engage in unprotected sex (or have engaged in unprotected sex in the past)
- They and/or their partner(s) have multiple sexual partners
- They and/or their partner(s) engage in drug use before/during sex
- They have met someone new and want to be sure they are healthy before beginning a physical relationship.

Results
The format of the test results will differ, depending on the infection being tested for and the sample
type being used for testing.
Finger-prick blood sample
Pathogens: HIV, syphilis (asymptomatic), hepatitis B and hepatitis C
- Reactive – this means that antibodies or antigens for an infection were present in the donor’s
sample at the time of collection - Non-reactive – this means that the antibodies and antigens were NOT present in the donor’s sample at the time of collection.
Lesion swab, urine sample or vaginal swab
Pathogens: Herpes, syphilis (symptomatic), chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomoniasis, mycoplasma
genitalium, mycoplasma hominis, urea urealyticum (UTI) and ureaplasma parvum (UTI)
- Detected – this means that the individual had a detectable infection at the time of sample collection
- Not detected – this means that the individual did not have a detectable infection at the time of sample collection.
